Ha preso parte (anche con ruolo organizzativo) a numerose spedizioni oceanografiche e geo-marine nel Mediterraneo, Mar Rosso, Antartide, Oceano Indiano, Oceano Atlantico, isole del Pacifico e regione Subantartica.
