INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM IN RADAR ALTIMETRY

The Symposium on "20 Years of Progress in Radar Altimetry", organized by the European Space Agency (ESA), in collaboration with the French Space Agency (CNES), will take place from Monday 24 to Saturday 29 of September 2012, in Venice-Lido.

The deadline for abstracts submission is the 15 of February 2012.

The symposium will be organized around the following scientific themes:

  • 20 years of Progress in Radar Altimetry: a historical perspective
  • Advances in our understanding of the open ocean
  • Advances in our understanding of coastal processes
  • Advances in our understanding of the Cryosphere
  • Altimetry over Land
  • Altimetric contributions to gravity field, marine geoid, bathymetry modeling and orbit determination
  • Building the 20-year altimetric record: challenges and achievements
  • Synergy between Altimetry, other data and models: "the integrated approach"
  • Outlook
  • Outreach

During the same week, a number of parallel meetings will be organized, including: the annual meeting of the Ocean Surface Topography Science Team (OSTST), the International Doris Service (IDS) Workshop and the Argo Science Workshop.
