89° SIMP Congress "System Earth evolution: from atoms to volcanoes"
The Italian Society of Mineralogy and Petrology (SIMP), in collaboration with the Italian Society of Geochemistry (Sogei), the Italian Association of Volcanology (AIV) and the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), is organizing the 89th Congress in Ferrara 13 to 15 September 2010.

The meeting will be an opportunity for geological disciplines dealing with Geochemistry, Mineralogy, Petrology and Volcanology to interact in order to create the synergies necessary for the advancement and improvement of knowledge on topics of great interest to the scientific community, and for their impact in application areas, including early prevention and natural environmental risks related to human activities or natural processes of natural evolution. This is to provide appropriate responses to security needs and sustainable development which are becoming more pressing for the scientific and technological progress of our country. The topics cover the origin and evolution of Planet Earth, the volcanic events, which are part of this evolution, and the risks involved, the study of atmosphere and hydrosphere both in relation to natural and anthropic phenomena, and finally the available resources and the impact that our development has on the whole Earth system.
