ISMAR-CNR for America's Cup World Series in Venice

The Institute of Marine Sciences is the largest institute of the National Research Council (CNR) devoted to the marine and oceanic scientific research.

ISMAR (www.ismar.cnr.it) conducts multidisciplinary studies in geology, biology and oceanography in the Mediterranean, oceans and polar areas. With its seven bases on the Italian territory, ISMAR participates in numerous national and European research projects contributing to improve the knowledge about processes and natural hazards, sustainable use of marine resources and understanding of human impacts on coasts and seabed of the ocean.

ISMAR-CNR contributes to the America's Cup World Series of Venice, providing wind statistics and data in real time from the oceanographic platform "Acqua Alta" and from the weather station of Riva 7 Martiri to the teams.

The Institute also estimates tidal currents patterns for the race area, applying finite element numerical models.

The partnership between ISMAR-CNR and ISAC-CNR (Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate - National Research Council) provides wind forecasts for the period of the event.

All information related to the forecast for the AC World Series in Venice can be found on the website www.ismar.cnr.it / ACWS-Venice
