The Venice Flooding of 29 October 2018 and 12 November 2019: Physics, Future and Predictability with Luigi Cavaleri and Marco Bajo (CNR_ISMAR)
The presentation focuses on the heavy floodings that affected Venice in October 2018 and November 2019. We discuss the physics of the events, what happened, what could have happened and the related forecasting systems.

Luigi Cavaleri, b. 1940. Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1965, Master of Aeronautics at California Institute of Technology (California, USA) 1969. Since 1969 working at CNR-ISMAR. Main areas of interest: sea waves (theory, forecasting models, physics, measures) and related topics.
Marco Bajo, degree in Physics at the University of Padua, PhD in Environmental Sciences at Ca' Foscari University of Venice. He collaborates with CNR-ISMAR with an interest in maritime circulation and sea level forecasting. His research focuses on observation and models describing the hydrodynamic evolution in a sea environment.
