CNR-Ismar researchers departing for Antarctica
From Bologna and Ancona within the XXXII PNRA italian expedition. December 31st, 2016

On board of the ship Italica, Andrea Gallerani, Federico Giglio, Federica Grilli and Leonardo Langone will hold paleoceanographic , biogeochemical and physical oceanography researches in the Ross Sea.
In particular, our researchers will be involved in various ways in the following projects:
- BEDROSE, Biodiversity and functioning of deep marine ecosystems in the Ross Sea in the light of climate change under way in the Southern Ocean
- CELEBER, Effects of CDW on the melting of glacial ice and the amount of Fe in the Ross Sea, Antarctica
- GRACEFUL, geochemical signals in biogenic carbonates Antarctic for paleoceanographic reconstruction
- HOLOFERNE, Holocene climatic fluctuations in sub-millennial recorded in sedimentary sequences expanded the Ross Sea
- MORSea, Marine Observatory in the Ross Sea
- TRACERS, tephrochronology and marker events for correlation of natural archives in the Ross Sea, Antarctica
Leonardo Langone will also play the role of the Scientific Coordinator of the entire oceanographic activities.
The Italica ship will depart from Christchurch December 31, 2016 and will return on February 22 2017 at the end of the expedition, after carrying out logistical operations (landing-boarding personnel, material and fuel) at the Mario Zucchelli base.
