INTERESTS

Young researcher at CNR since 2004. She is working with a research grant at ISMAR-CNR Venice since 2006. Her major research topic is study of transitional ecosystem ecology related to benthic domain and the benthic invertebrates taxonomy of soft and hard substrata, especially Polychaetes. Her research is focused on the benthic community analysis, the spatio-temporal variability of the macrozoobenthic assemblages and their relationship with the abiotic variables, in coastal transitional ecosystems (lagoons and estuaries). Currently she is interested in the degradation of wood pile by xylophagous organism in the transitional waters.

ACTIVITY
  • Taxonomy of benthic macroinvertebrates of soft and hard bottom, especially Polychaetes.
  • Involved in planning activity and monitoring programs committed by Public Institutions such as the Regional Protection Agency, the Water Authority of Venice.
  • Experimentation of alternative materials in The Lagoon of Venice. The degradation of wood pile by xylophagous invertebrates: research on the nature of the phenomenon and resistance characteristics of alternative materials to the attack and techniques of protection. Project funded by the Water Authority of Venice.
  • Application of benthic indices of environmental quality within Water Framework Directive of the European Commission (WFD, 2006/60/EC). Macrozoobenthic monitoring  in transitional waters.
  • Involved in a project on artificial reefs (testing and management activity in the “Campo Sperimentale in Mare”) endorsed by Veneto Region and dealing with the colonization patterns on artificial substrates (2004-2007).
  • Teaching activity in International Summer School and courses at University level, scuba diving and elementary school.
