Marini Simone

His current research activity deals with pattern analysis, recognition and classification of marine ecological data, with special interest in feature and variable selection and knowledge discovery through evolutionary approaches. In particular he is interested in the analysis and modelling of plankton dynamics with respect to relevant biological and climate parameters. He is also interested in pattern recognition and classification methodologies for visual data acquired by Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV).

His research interests at IMATI have concerned 3D shape similarity and knowledge representation of scientific concepts related to the domain of 3D shape. In particular he have approached the problem of partial and global matching and classification of 3D shapes by investigating the use of structural representation of shapes.
