Socal Giorgio
Giorgio Socal is doctor in biological sciences. He is senior scientist at ISMAR from 1977. He is particularly experienced in field and laboratory investigations on the spatial and temporal distribution of phytoplankton and on primary production processes. He took part in several projects in the Mediterranean Sea (North Adriatic, Otranto Strait and the Ionian Sea) and in estuarine systems (lagoon of Venice and Po river plume). He participated in three polar expeditions in the Weddell Sea, Antarctica, the Barents Sea and in the Kongsfjorden (Svalbard).
