Major research interests are numerical modelling and data analysis and fusion of super-dense, multi-platform datasets for process studies of coastal oceanography and marine meteorology; coupled ocean-atmosphere models for planetary boundary studies, in particular with respect to extreme events; R&D in operational oceanography.
P.I. in several nation/international projects.
Participation to 7 participated international cruises onboard the NR/V Alliance and 1 national in the Mediterranean Sea, in two case as lead oceanographer;
Member of the European Geophysical Union (EGU) and co-convener of the session “Open Session on Operational Oceanography”, EGU General Assembly 2012, Vienna.
Referee for several international journals (e.g. Ocean Science, Journal of Marine System, Ocean Modelling, Journal of Geophysical Research - Ocean, Estuarine and Coastal Shelf Science).
He authored and co-authored some thirty papers in international scientific journals JCR.
