ASA

The Archive of Adriatic Studies ASA is the ISMAR repository for consulting books, cards, scientific documents and collections dedicated to the Venice Lagoon, the Adriatic and the sea in general, from the historical headquarters of the Canonica complex in Venice. The open access digital archive collects the heritage of research institutes here were established since 1932: the R. Comitato Talassografico Italiano, the Institute of Adriatic Studies, the Observatory of the Sea Fishing, the Institute of Biology of the Sea, and the Institute for the Study of the Dynamics of Big Masses, until the merger in 2003 into the Institute of Marine Sciences which today has its headquarters at the Arsenale in Venice. ASA, developed in collaboration with the IRCrES CNR of Turin, also includes Algarium Veneticum, an algal herbarium based on the collection assembled between 1941 and 1950 by Michelangelo Minio, Nicolò Spada and Giacomo Zolezzi, and now enriched by new samplings for the study of marine biodiversity and the transitional environments.
