e-Audit Project

The project E - Audit examines the issue of energy consumption on board fishing vessels. The Energy Audit is the fulcrum of an energy assessment that aims to understand how energy is used on board, what are the possible causes of waste and if so, what measures can be suggested to the fishing industry. The energy plan must not only assess the technical feasibility but also the viability of proposed actions.
The Energy Audit of the fishing fleet is a systematic set of surveys, collection and analysis parameters for the specific consumption and the operating conditions of fishing vessels. It is defined as a "technical and economic evaluation of energy flows." Its goals are to:
1) define the energy balance of the vessel;
2) identify the steps of technological upgrading;
3) to evaluate each project technical and economic opportunities;
4) improve the comfort and safety.

The main tool to understand and then act effectively on the energy situation of a fishing company is the Energy Audit through which can be gathered through analysis, through inspections at the production unit fishing. all possible parameters of the energy utilities, mechanical, electrical and oil are collected in terms of power demand / consumption rate, duty cycle and working hours.
This database is the process of constructing energy models. From these models it is possible to derive the distribution of power and fuel consumption by hour, season and type of use (energy for sailing / fishing, lighting, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and other services of the process). The result of the evaluations is to determine the energy-intensive
 profile of the vessels.
Subsequently, it is compared with average parameters of reference in order to identify potential improvements.

Following the Audit, for each intervention identified for improvement, it runs a technical-economic feasibility study prior to implementation.

The study of the above information, considering the entire economic panorama of fishing vessels, will allow to link the historical with the consumption of "life" business, thus obtaining the parameters of energy performance KPIs (Key Performance Indicator) that will allow you to compare the "fishing company with the benchmark (in the literature and data obtained from" field experience) to assess their competitiveness and identify possible improvements.
