Ecotoxicology
Members of the group conduct novel studies in the field of marine ecotoxicology and stress biology. Basic researches aim to understand how organisms cope with exposure to environmental stress (chemical/physical, both anthropogenic and natural), applied studies focus on application of classical and innovative ecotoxicological tests and of biomarkers at different level of biological organization, to improve knowledge on the evaluation of toxic effects of environmental pollution and other stressors in marine and transitional environments.
The final goal of both approaches is to develop and propose new protection tools for human and ecosystem health. Members of the team have different expertise covering a range of techniques to study the impact of external factors on physiology and reproductive biology in marine organisms from larval forms to invertebrate and vertebrate.
