MA in Geological Sciences in 1988. PhD in Earth Sciences in 1993. Research scientist at the National Research Council since 2004 at the Institute of Marine Sciences in Bologna. She worked for around 10 years in sedimentology, stratigraphy, geochemistry and palinology of alluvial and lacustrine environments aimed at the paleoenvironmental and paleoclimatological reconstruction of the study areas, within the framework of several multidisciplinary research projects in collaboration with national (University and NRC) and local (Emilia Romagna EPA) research institutes. In 1996, she began to collaborate with the NRC also studying coastal and shelf marine environment within the Group of Environmental Geology of ISMAR. Since 15 years, she is involved in the study of marine depositional phenomena at the sediment-water interface at different space and temporal scales, of biogeochemical fluxes, of recent and present marine sedimentary processes and of their interaction with the human impact and the climate during the Quaternary and in historical time. She participated in 14 research projects either regional, national or international and to 10 related oceanographic cruises, in 5 of them as chief scientist. In the last few years she particularly developed an experience on anoxic phenomena and distrophic crisis in continental shelf environments.
She is working on the pubblication of scientific results of the projects in which she was involved in, in scientific dissemination and communication activity and in scientific project planning on environmental management and sustainable development issues.
She is member of the Association of Oceanology and Limnology (AIOL) whose aim is to favour multidisciplinary scientific collaboration between research scientists and of the Association Geology Without Frontiers Onlus (GSF) which deals with analyzing and solving problems related to the interaction between man, the physical environment and the biosphere.
She is also member of the National Organizing Commission of the International Conference of Adolescents and Young Adults CONFINT 2010 ‘Let’s take care of the Planet’ (http://confint2010.mec.gov.br/) that is an initiative promoted by the Brazilian government to allow adolescents and young people around the world to meet in Brazil to discuss alternatives for the construction of environmentally sustainable and socially fair society.
She wrote 10 scientific JCR papers, 5 international scientific papers, 13 papers published on national journals. She collaborated to the realisation of a CD-ROM graphic atlas collecting the scientific results of the italian project Prisma2. She was involved in the planning and realisation of the documentary produced by the EC-DG Environment on the European project EMMA for the presentation of the European Strategy on the Sea and the documentary produced by TG-Leonardo RAI3 on the problem of anoxia in the Adriatic Sea. She participated in the planning and delivery of the day's presentation of the activities of CNR to the schools and the citizenship of Bologna event "The Trampled Research" (www.laricercacalpestata.it/) and the replication of such an event in Venice.
