Phd in oceanography (1988), Master in Oceanography (1983), Laurea cum laude in Physics (1978). Presently senior scientist at ISMAR La Spezia (since 2001) and Research Professor at RSMAS (Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science) University of Miami. She has carried out research on the study of the ocean general circulation in relationship to climate problems, dispersion study and analysis of Lagrangian data. Her present focus is on the study of transport processes in the ocean using Lagrangian techniques, development of asssimilation techniques for ocean model prediction, and modelling of coastal processes. She is author of more than 50 papers in ISI refereed journals and co-editor of an international book on Lagrangian dynamics and prediction.
