Rizzetto Federica

Federica Rizzetto is a geologist. Her main areas of scientific expertise are geomorphology and sedimentology. She studies the Late Pleistocene and Holocene geological, geomorphological, sedimentological, and stratigraphic settings of coastal zones (littorals, lagoons, and nearshore areas) and alluvial plains. She analyses the long- and short-term evolution of alluvial plains and coastal regions in relation to natural and human-induced processes.

She has been involved in more than 30 national and international projects, in some of which as principal investigator. She has worked in collaboration with universities, research organizations and local authorities.

In the last years, she has mainly studied the geomorphological modifications produced on the coasts by sea-level and climate changes and anthropogenic interventions. Her investigations are often aimed at assessing vulnerability and risk.

Other activities consist in remote sensing and geological and geomorphological mapping.

She serves as traineeship tutor and co-supervisor of students studying for bachelor’s or master’s degrees, as a reviewer for scientific journals, and as a referee to assess research projects proposals.

She published more than 140 papers on national and international journals, books, and congress proceedings. Moreover, she is one of the main authors of the Sheets 128 “Venezia” and 148-149 “Chioggia-Malamocco” of the new Geological Map of Italy at the 1:50000 scale.
