OTHER PROGRAMMES - CCNS project
Programme: European Defence Agency Ad Hoc Research & Technology Project
Project Title: Corrosion Control for Navy Ships
Acronym: CCNS
Duration: 36 months
Total Budget : € 6,543,400
Web site: -
Summary:
The Navy activities combined with the new environmental regulations lead to a critical situation characterized by a significant risk upon operational availability and running costs for Navy ships in terms of corrosion and surface protection.
In addition, there is a requirement to extend repair intervals, in order to reduce maintenance levels, reduce the running costs, maintain the ship security and comply with environmental regulations (REACH directive, Biocides directive, Volatile Organic Content…).
In this context, the Project is targeted at considering new approaches and solutions for defining in particular the adapted conditions-based maintenance.
CCNS Project is divided into three main technical topics:
A- Corrosion and fouling in seawater piping systems
B- Cathodic Protection Optimization
C- Improving Performance of Protective Coatings
