Venice-TSX Project
Assessing vertical movements of natural tidal landforms and anthropogenic structures at the Venice Lagoon inlets”. COA0612 German Aerospace Center (DLR).
The high spatial resolution of TerraSAR-X and its short revisit interval is of particular interest for the Venice Lagoon. This would permit the monitoring of the stability/displacement of single structures. In particular the study is focused on: a) the three inlets that connect the lagoon to the Adriatic Sea and where the Venice Water Authority is constructing the mobile barriers (MOSE) to defense Venice from high-waters; b) and the natural landforms of the lagoon (i.e. salt marshes, tidal flats); c) the littorals that divide the internal water from the open sea.
The interferometric analysis of the TerraSAR-X data will be supported by ground-based measurement campaigns (leveling, continous GPS and differential GPS) and compared/integrated with the interferometric results obtained from ENVISAT and COSMO-SkyMed based information.
